Internet/Computer Acceptable Use Policy
The Internet enables the Bowerston Public Library to expand its reference
and information services by providing access to unique resources worldwide.
Patrons are encouraged to use the Internet for their informational, educational
and recreational needs while following these guidelines.
- Users must be registered borrowers of the Bowerston Public Library
- Users must register and sign in at the computer workstation, made
aware of and agree to follow the Internet Access Policy, Rules and
Procedures. By registering you agree to abide by the Bowerston Public
Library policies, rules and procedures:
- Users must be able to demonstrate adequate computer ability.
- The use of the Internet/computer workstation
will be limited to 1 hour time slots, unless no one is waiting.
You
agree to make the workstation
available within 5 minutes after being notified by a librarian
that another patron is waiting. Use of the Internet/computer workstation
is granted
on a "first come, first serve" basis unless a reservation
has been made.
- Patrons will use the Internet/Computer workstation and resources
in a responsible and ethical manner.
- Users will not attempt to modify, alter, or damage software and equipment.
- Users will not send, receive or display text or graphics which may
reasonably be construed as obscene under Ohio Law.
- Use of chat rooms is prohibited for all person under 18 years of
age. Violation of this rule will result in the loss of computer privileges
for 30 days.
- Internet access is a privilege, not a right, which may be revoked
at any time for in appropriate conduct.
- Users may not use their own software programs on Internet/Computer
workstations.
- If you wish to save files, please ask a librarian for a diskette.
Diskettes are available for $1.00.
- Printer charges:
pages are $.15 cents each. All Color Printed pages are $.25 Each.
- Software downloaded from the Internet/Computer
may contain a virus. Patrons should have virus checking software
on their home computer.
The Bowerston Public Library is not responsible for damage to a patron’s
diskette or computer.
- PARENTS of minor children MUST ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY
for their children’s
use of the Internet/Computer through the library’s connection.
- The Bowerston Public Library is not responsible for the content,
quality or accuracy of the information obtained from the Internet.
- All Patrons under 18 must have a signed permission
form for Internet access
